Janette obtained her bachelor’s degree in behavioral science with an emphasis in psychology from Utah Valley University and continued to earn her master’s degree in school counseling from the University of Phoenix. Janette has almost two decades in experience from working in residential and educational settings as a direct-care staff, live-in group home manager, residential supervisor, program director, teacher, and a school counselor.
Janette has also served on and chaired different boards and committees focused on ensuring quality care for adolescents who are placed outside their homes. She loves spending her spare time outdoors with her friends and family. Being passionate about traveling and experiencing different cultures, Janette has spent time in over thirty-five different countries throughout North and South America, Europe, and Africa for recreation and service opportunities.
Trevor received his Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education with Teaching Licensure from Dixie State University and the Utah State Board of Education with High Honors graduating Magna Cum Laude with an endorsement in Theatre Education. He loves music and performing and has been a professional musician for nearly half his life. He has worked in film, television, and recording as an engineer, actor, and performer. Since joining Ashcreek Ranch Academy in 2015, Trevor has been a tutor/academic facilitator in Math, English, Science, Personal Finance, Music, Spanish, and Driver’s Ed. As the father of eight children (7 boys and 1 girl), he also has a love for children and teaching. When he is not teaching or raising his kids, Trevor enjoys being a handyman, accountant, real estate investor, actively remodeling, playing a variety of sports, cooking, and eating sushi!
Theodore Winberg obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree from U.C. Berkeley. Ted got his degree in Pure Mathematics in 2019, but beforehand spent two years as a tutor for Citrus College in Glendora. It was during this time that he gained expert skills and a deep passion for sharing his excitement and knowledge about anything mathematical. He has found that he is able to relate that same drive and passion into the students he teaches and has enjoyed doing so at Ashcreek. He started working as the Math teacher at Ashcreek Academy in October 2019 and has enjoyed helping students take interest and grow not just in Math, but in themselves.
Kera graduated from Dixie State University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology with a minor in Spanish. Kera has always had a passion for teaching others and leading by example. Kera has worked in both residential and outpatient treatment settings and has experience working in both mentor and academic positions. Kera is able to take her skills and experiences from being a mentor and apply them to how she teaches in her classes with the overall goal to lower school anxiety and help students stay motivated to learn.
Kera has spent over two months volunteering in Mexico teaching English to middle school and high school aged students. She also studied abroad in Santiago, Chile for a summer semester and loves learning about other cultures. In her free time, Kera loves to ski and go running.
Niall Hodges-Burns (They/Them/Their)
Niall was born in California, and has lived in Utah for 18 years. They graduated from Southern Utah University in 2017 with a BS in History. Niall has dreamed of being a teacher since they were a child, and has always loved History, starting with an interest in shipwrecks. Niall has been working in the residential treatment atmospheres since 2016, and is passionate about helping young folks reach their potential. Niall says, “My philosophy as a teacher is: It’s not my job to tell kids how to think. It’s my job to teach them how to think for themselves. Stay Curious!”
