Our large, private expansive campus serves as our residential home; with a large area for our on-campus horses and dogs. We have a fully stocked fish pond where the boys enjoy water activities like kayaking, swimming, fishing, and other great activities. On our property we also have a small basketball court, skate ramp, music production studio, and home theater.
This is where they learn more and apply what they learn about what it means to be part of a community.
Ashcreek Academy is an environment where a student can feel comfortable to address his challenges while avoiding the “institutional” feel of a typical therapeutic program.
With all of the work, play, academics, and therapeutic activities, sometimes it’s just time to relax. The theater room is a place where the boys get together to watch their favorite movies and sports events.
Located adjacent to the kitchen, the common area is the place you’ll find the boys hanging out after their work is done and the evening gets underway. There is also a game room located up the stairs off to the side of the kitchen.
Just like in a typical family home, the kitchen and common areas are the places everyone gathers while dinner is prepared and discussions of they days events are full of laughs, jokes, and fun.
The common areas have comfortable sofas, quiet nooks, and stunning views of the surrounding mountains, water, and skies.
The boys bedrooms are located on the main and upper levels of the home. Each room has bunks for up to four boys – each with their own personal storage areas, drawers, and a shared private bathroom.
The size and layout provides a safe, nurturing environment centered around the daily activities you would find at home.
The boys are assigned rooms based on their age, interests, and other factors determined by their individual therapist – this helps us ensure the boys enjoy each other’s company and get along well as they spend time together.
Just outside the patio doors of the home, it’s just a short walk to the outdoor skate park. This is a favorite activity for the boys – many who are already accomplished skaters, and even for boys who are new to skating altogether.
No matter their ability, there is always someone who can teach newcomers the basics of the sport and everyone loves to watch the newly mastered skills as the boys have fun winding down in the evening or when we get serious and have a legit competition between the boys. No matter who, or when, it is always an activity the boys look forward to participating or watching.
Of course, safety is always the number one priority – so helmets and supervision are always required no matter the skill level of the skater.
As with all of the activities at Ashcreek Academy, we use each as an experiential learning opportunity. As the boys learn to do new and hard things, fail and succeed, interact with others and overcome difficulties alone or as a group – each experience is an opportunity for therapists to help each boy relate it to their life, their family relationships, and the real world. Often the boys receive therapy and life lessons without even knowing it.
We enjoy very little rain and seldom see a cloudy day. Our location provides us with mild winters along with cool mornings and evenings.
With access to National Parks, world-class mountain biking trail (Gooseberry, Little Creek and Guacamole Trails all close by) and diverse terrain from sand dunes to high mountains, we have ample opportunity to play outdoors.
Our expansive campus and access to local outdoor activities also gives our students a chance to relax, have fun, and practice renewed values and relationship skills in different settings.
Come enjoy Ashcreek’s great weather and welcoming home environment.
